75 Years of Commitment and Service - London Luton Airport Enjoys its Platinum Jubilee
An airport that served our ancestors is ready to serve our descendants too. The London Luton Airport was inaugurated on 16th of July in the year 1938 and was formerly named as 'Luton Municipal Airport'. The same day of this year was found to be its 75th anniversary, where the jamboree was reaching its peak as soon as the airport saw the dawning sky.
Chaplain of the Airport, Rev'd Micheal Banfield made his presence on the occasion along the other celebrities namely the Managing Director, Glyn Jones and the Mayor of Luton, Sheila Roden. The Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Dr. David Siegler in deed made his appearance on the day of celebration.

Holding too many prides from the olden days, the airport has passed so many improvements and innovations right from the day of its opening. It was been the most profitable of UK in the year 1972 and was gifted with an international terminal by the Prince of Wales in 1985. It introduced a new notion of 'low cost' or 'no frills' in the year 1995 and is now ranked as the 5th largest in the country that have served more than 9 million passengers in the past one year. The airport approximately serves about 10 million people every year which proves the facility it has and the service it provides.
